Effects of parking charge increases

The Chamber is assessing the effects of the increased parking charges on town centre member businesses, in order to make its recommendations to Wiltshire Council.

Many member and non-member businesses have recently expressed concerns over reduced footfall in the town, following the increases. Official figures from all of the parking ticket machines are due to be released shortly and the Chamber will be analysing the results in detail. Particularly in the long stay car park, figures are expected to show significantly reduced usage.

Particularly if Wiltshire Council are not receiving the increased income they'd anticipated, the Chamber will be able to lobby for a reduction in the charges to encourage higher usage.
