The effects of the dramatic recent rises in car parking charges are being monitored by the Chamber. All workers in the town qualify for low cost permits, details of which are available in this section.
Redemption scheme receives unanimous opposition
Wiltshire Council are due to roll out a redemption scheme for towns that want it, whereby the cost of a ticket can be refunded by voluntarily participating shops when a customer pays over a certain amount of money. The level of required spend to qualify would be decided by the individual shop.
Effects of parking charge increases
The Chamber is assessing the effects of the increased parking charges on town centre member businesses, in order to make its recommendations to Wiltshire Council.
Workers' Parking Permits
The Chamber successfully lobbied for the concessionary parking permit scheme, which allows workers to park from just £6.27 per week on an annual permit.
